Fire at derelict building in Larne town centre being treated as 'deliberate' - NIFRS

The cause of a fire in Larne town centre is currently being treated as deliberate, said the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has said.

Firefighters were called to reports of a blaze in a derelict building on Upper Main Street, Larne at 6.23pm on Wednesday, May 15.

Two appliances from Larne Fire Station, one appliance from Carrickfergus Fire Station, and one appliance from Ballyclare Fire Station along with one aerial appliance from Knock Fire Station attended the incident.

A spokesperson from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three jets and one hose reel to extinguish the fire. Firefighters took readings using gas monitors and all readings were normal. One casualty was left in the care of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

"The incident was dealt with by 10.03pm and the cause of the fire is being treated as deliberate at this time.”
