‘Explore’ Christianity at Templepatrick course

IF you are curious about the Gospel, you may benefit from a Christianity Explored course that’s being run by the three Churches in Templepatrick from next week.

The programme will run from 7.30 pm to 9 pm on seven consecutive Wednesday evenings – January 9, 16, 23 and 30 and February 6, 13 and 20.

It will be held in the Templeton Hotel and there is no cost to participants. Course booklets, tea/coffee and a light supper will be provided.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “This is a joint venture of the three churches in Templepatrick – Templepatrick Presbyterian, St Patrick’s Church of Ireland and Templepatrick Old Presbyterian. We opted for a central and neutral venue, the Templeton Hotel, which we hope will allow people to “be themselves”.

“The Templepatrick Churches have recently led community carol singing at the switching on of the Christmas tree lights in Templepatrick. We are running this Christianity Explored course because we’re determined to help people of the Templepatrick and wider community explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ”, they said.

Christianity Explored has been run previously by Templepatrick Presbyterian Church and the United Parishes of St Patrick’s Templepatrick and St John’s Donegore. Those who attended have included people who regularly attend church and those who have little or no church connection. All have learnt more about the Christian faith and in particular Jesus Christ.

The course centres around the life and mission of Jesus Christ – who He is, the authority that He has over every aspect of life –e.g. illness, the weather, sin - and what response He desires from us.

This course is open to all who have an interest in exploring more about Jesus and what it means to follow Him. The course uses DVDs to stimulate discussion but no-one will be forced to take part in discussion if they would just like to listen.
