A BREAK for rain proved pivotal in Ballymena Seconds' 75-run defeat by Carrick Seconds at Eaton Park on Saturday.
Neil Fullerton’s side looked well-placed to catch the visitors’ total of 264 when they were 123-1 after 23 overs.

That solid footing had been given to them by a 117 stand for the second wicket between WIlliam Montgomery (68) and Stephen Colgan (43).

But after the delay for rain, Ballymena lost all momentum and crumbled to 189 all out.

Earlier, Stephen Colgan, bowling a rare spell, with 3-39 and Paul Black (2-48) were the pick of the Ballymena bowlers in an attack missing Matthew Purse and Fergus Taylor, both of whom were with the Firsts.
