BANN Valley Road Club celebrated their 20th anniversary in style on Friday in the Wild Duck Inn in Portglenone.
The function was extremely well attended with a strong representation from Ballymena and East Tyrone Clubs as well as probably the entire Bann Valley membership and their partners.

Following the superb meal and a well recieved powerpoint screening from photographs taken over the last year by Dean McElfatrick and edited by Sean Boardman, the prizegiving commenced with chairman Lawrence Maguire thanking all those who over the previous 20 years had helped to make Bann Valley Road Club the success it is today.

Specifically his and the club's thanks went to the founding members present on the night, elder statesman of the club Vincent McDonnell who is still riding several times a week, Paul Clarke of Sizzlers fame and the present day Club sponsor Michael Clarke.

The chairman finished his speech by drawing attention to the dedication required by ordinary people interested in the sport to enable events to take place, the marshalls, sponsors, Michael Clarke and sons the club's main sponsor, GMC electrical road race sponsor, Elite Sports time trial sponsor, Sizzlers, Glenview Trophies and Swift Screws individual race sponsors also the ladies who on several occasions each year make tea and refreshments but not least to the cycling community who have turned out in larger numbers than ever this season to make this, fittingly, the best year for BVRC in the last 20.

The chairman then went on to present the prizes to the winners and runners up in the various events before the evening concluded with music and dancing.

Many thanks are due to the Wild Duck Inn for the superb surroundings and service.
