MUSIC55-7 in association with Smalltown America and Tennents have announced a 'Search For The Song' competition for a new song to showcase at the forthcoming City of Song Festival from September 25 to 27.
Maybe you write songs secretly or have always wanted to but never got round to it. Well now’s your chance.

The song can be in any style and entries from singer-songwriters, bands and ensembles, and songwriters (who don’t perform), are encouraged t
o enter.

The winning song will be performed and recorded at the City of Song Festival

To enter simply: email an mp3 track of your song to song@music55-7.com with the following details - name, contact number, email address, title of track; or send a cd or tape to Music55-7, Search for The Song, Room MC210, University of Ulster Magee Campus, Northland Road, Derry, BT48 7JL

Deadline for entries is July 31.

A City of Song panel will narrow down all the entries to a top five and then the overall winner will be decided by a public vote online

Worried about copyright? – don’t be as by entering the competition you give organisers permission to play the song online if it gets through to the final stages and to perform and record it at the festival, but that’s all. The recording is for your own personal use and the song remains your intellectual property.
