JACKIE Fullerton can be forgiven for feeling a little outnumbered when he turned up at the Templeton Hotel to support Macmillan Cancer Care.
The BBC NI sport presenter and commentator found himself in a room with over 250 women!
Jackie was guest speaker at the Annual Ladies' Luncheon, now in its 19th year, organised by Templepatrick woman Betty Campbell.
Betty has been running the luncheon since the Templeton Hotel opened its doors and the event has become an established event in the borough's social calendar.
This year funds raised from the lunch will go towards Macmillan Cancer Care to help them continue to run their much needed services and also to help build a new palliative care unit at Antrim Hospital.
Jackie Fullerton said: "I have heard a lot about Betty Campbell and the tremendous work she has done for various charities over the years. She is an incredibly modest lady who, I'm told, has raised close to half a million pounds for countless good causes.
"It was an absolutely pleasure to meet her and to be her guest at the Ladies Luncheon, which is a very well-run and enjoyable event."
Betty said: "I'd like to thank Jackie for coming along - he was very brave to be the only man among so many ladies!
"Everyone really enjoyed listening to what Jackie had to say - and he even gave us a song, which was great!"
Betty would also like to thank Boots of Ballymena, who supplied all guests with a £5 voucher off No7 and Ruby & Millie cosmetics, as well as a discount voucher for Boots Opticians.
"Support like that given to us by Boots of Ballymena means so much to charity events like the ladies' luncheon and I would like to pay tribute to the management and staff for making it possible.
"I'd also like to thanks Libbis of Ultimate in Ballymena and her wonderful models who staged a stunning fashion show. Ultimate of Ballymena has been a loyal support over the years and I'm very pleased to be associated with them."
Betty also thanked the staff of Belfast International Information Desk who continually help her fundraising efforts by raffling various gift baskets throughout the year.
Betty added: "Thanks also go to the staff and management of the Templeton Hotel, who once again put on a first class lunch.
"Stunning balloons for the day - including a footballer especially for Jackie - were provided by Bernie Young and I'd advise anyone who needs something for a special occasion or function to contact her on 9023 0124.
"Finally, I'd like to thank everyone for coming and anyone who helped out in any way."
