McKinneys, one of Ballymena’s oldest family businesses, has been celebrating it centenary this year.

The entrepreneurial founder, James H. McKinney was a prominent, local businessman within the Ballymena area who established the well-known estate agency in 1916 in addition to a furniture store, a seed business, a shoe shop, as well as an insurance and stockbroking firm.

It is the estate agency which survives today and which has moved with the times, developing a social media presence and establishing a website.

Evans McKinney, grandson of the founder said: “We have a reputation for fair dealing an honesty as well as being well respected within the local community. We are celebrating both our history and our future. To be in business for 100 years is extremely gratifying and humbling.

“I would also pay tribute to our past and present staff who have been key to our success over many years”, states David McKinney, Partner.

At the forefront of the business today, David, who is the fourth generation of the family is joined by his wife Caroline who is the Practice Manager.

“It is our desire to continue to build upon the strengths and knowledge of the previous generations and drive the firm along the fast moving lane that 21st century businesses find themselves in,” said Caroline.
