Blue Plaque to be erected at Bard of Dunclug’s birthplace

A Blue Plaque to commemorate the life of David Herbison (1800-1880), the Bard of Dunclug, will be unveiled in Mill Street, Ballymena, on Wednesday, October 14 at 11.15am.

This event has been organised by the Ulster History Circle and supported by the Ulster-Scots Agency and the Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Timothy Gaston, will unveil the Blue Plaque. Ballymena Central Library is associated with the Blue Plaque unveiling and following this, will host a talk by his descendent Dr. Ivan Herbison at 12.15pm. David Herbison is a recognised Ulster-Scots poet who was born in Mill Street, Ballymena in 1800. Everyone is welcome to come along to this free talk. Refreshments will be provided.
