Sgt Harry McCaughey Cambridge House Grammar School Detachment has been selected for the United Kingdom Under 19 Rifle Team.

Harry was identified very early on in his cadet career as a potential very good shooter at a C Company weekend at Magilligan.

Harry has been part of the Battalion shooting for this past four years and has been to the National Shooting Centre Bisley on numerous occasions competing for honours. His best success was winning the Patriotic 500 Shield individual out of a total of 540 cadets taking part.

In 2014 Harry was selected to attend the Cadet Leadership in Marksmanship Court at Connaught in Canada for seven weeks. Coming back from a successful Canada course he went to a selection for the United Kingdom Cadet Rifle Team (UKCRT) that goes to the Channel Island in August every year. He was invited to attend Exercise Maple Taste which is a selection couple of days in March 2015, where cadets have to shoot and perform to the highest standard to be considered for selection. A few weeks, a letter confirmed that he had gained a place on the United Kingdom Cadet Rifle Team at the Jersey Championships in August 2015. He has now been selected for the UK Cadet Target Rifle Team- ‘The Atheling’s’ which is the United Kingdom Under 19 Rifle Team to travel to Canada 2016.
