THE famous Go Sun restaurant in Ballymena has a spectacular programme of events planned to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Welcoming in the Year of the Snake, the local restaurant has planned some fantastic events for local people to join in with to celebrate and mark the occasion.

Running from February 4 to 15, a number of special dining events are planned.

On Monday, February 4, Tuesday, February 5, and Wednesday, February 6, and the following week, Monday, February 11, Tuesday, February 12 and Wednesday, February 13, patrons can avail of a fantastic ‘Taster Menu’ for just £22 per couple.

This will allow patrons to try a selection of smaller versions of old favourites and new dishes.

The three-course meal includes a selection of starters, main courses and a complimentary drink. Chinese Cake and Chinese Tea will be served as the dessert.

On Thursday, February 7, The Go Sun will be hosting a New Year Buffet Night for £11.50 per person, allowing diners to choose from over 30 starters, main courses and desserts.

With Valentine’s Day falling within the Chinese New Year celebration period, a special Valentines Menu will be served on February 14 for £35 per couple, to include starter, main and dessert, along with a glass of Prosecco sparkling wine and a free gift for the lady.

There will be celebratory banquet nights - for £16.95 per person - on Sunday, February 10 and Friday, February 15, which have been put together by Head Chef Stephen and Chef Heung.

There will also be the release of traditional Chinese sky lanterns at the end of the evening (weather permitting).

To mark another Chinese tradition in the form of ‘Money Tree’, each table of guests visiting the restaurant during the entire Chinese celebration period will be invited to choose a lucky red envelope. These are pinned to the money tree and contain money and various prizes.
