Make every day a Fryday!

editorial image

FAST food has been taken to a tasty new level in Ballymena with the opening of ‘Frydays’.

Located at Dunclug Shopping Centre, Frydays is so much more than a chip shop, offering a choice of pub grub-style food as well as the traditional ‘chippy’ favourites.

The extensive menu has to be seen to be fully appreciated and all meals are available for sit in or takeaway, seven days a week.

Cod Fish suppers, sausage suppers, pasties, chicken goujons, butties, and burgers are made to order using only the finest locally sourced ingredients and all-day breakfast frys and filled sodas are a speciality.

Traditional chip shop fare is hard to beat when hunger strikes but there are times when we fancy something a wee bit different and that’s where Frydays comes into its own.

What about a hearty helping of lasagne & chips, a chicken & Bacon Caesar salad, a club sandwich with chips or even sausages with champ onions and gravy - each priced at just £4.

Or, maybe you fancy some Irish stew or vegetable broth, which are on the Frydays menu at just £3 each.

Everything is made freshly each day on the premises - even the sauces they use are made in-house.

Kids are well catered for too and can choose from sausages (2), chicken nuggets, small burger or fish meals which all come with chips and a drink.

Managed by Bernie McAuley, who was previously cook next door at Connolly’s Bar, Frydays has a team of 11 staff who are all from the local area and for whom customer service is a top priority.

Bernie says Frydays’ combination of top quality, tasty food, a varied menu and friendly, efficient staff is bringing in a steady stream of customers from a wide area.

“We just opened on December 13 but business has been really, really good with lots of great feedback,” she said.

“News has travelled quickly and we have regular customers coming to us from as far away as Cargan, Cullybackey and Moorfields.”

So what keeps bringing them back to Frydays?

“We only use cod in our fish suppers which are very popular as are our chicken goujons and customers also love our pastie baps,” said Bernie.

“Then there are our specials like the Club Sandwich, our Philly Steak Ciabatta, our Chicken Fillet Burger with bacon, cheese, bbq sauce and tobacco onions, and of course, our snack boxes which are priced at just £4.”

Evening specials are available weekly and there are daily lunch specials, Monday to Friday from 12noon-2.30pm, when, for example, you could tuck into a sausage supper and sauce or a pastie supper, each priced at just £3.70 with a 330ml can.

“Our lunch specials are great value for money and are proving very popular with schoolkids and workers on the go who appreciate that we also serve tea and coffee,” said Bernie.

With seating for 16, Frydays also caters for birthday parties both on the premises or for takeaway and the business is happy to deliver party orders. It also caters for functions next door in Connolly’s Bar.

There’s plenty of car parking right outside and you can ring in advance for speedy collection while delivery is available for £1.50 on any order Thursday to Saturday from 5pm-10pm or on Sunday from 12noon-7pm.

Open seven days a week, everyday is a ‘Fryday’. Just call in to the shop at 3 Dunclug Shopping Centre, Monday to Thursday from 11am-9pm, Friday & Saturday from 11am-10pm and Sunday from 11am-9pm.

Customers walking through the door for the first time will find themselves stepping into a bright, modern eaterie with an American diner feel.

Owners Conor Connolly and Gerard O’Kane are very excited with their new business venture which has just been awarded a coveted 5-star hygiene rating and are delighted with the response so far.

They extended thanks to all their customers and said they look forward to building on the great start by introducing new offers and promotions throughout the coming year.
