editorial image

A FILM which has been hailed as a groundbreaking piece of work in exploring cultural diversity in Northern Ireland will be shown by Antrim Borough Council in The Old Courthouse, Antrim on Friday, February 22 at 7pm.

Tapestry of Colours, directed by Zhenia Mahdi-Nau, is an emotive documentary feature film about the fusion of colours and ethnic groups in Northern Ireland.

It features personal and moving interviews with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures, set against colourful and unusual festivals, with a strong emphasis on music.

The film poses several questions on perceptions and attitudes about identity and culture, but ultimately leaves the viewer engaged and inspired.

Reactions to the film have been strong, with viewers describing it as “wonderfully inspiring and most enjoyable – a fabulous piece of art”.

Others have commented that the film takes the viewer on an “emotional rollercoaster”, one that “reached right into the heart of the audience”.

It is being seen as a very important piece of work in the context of cultural diversity throughout Northern Ireland.

Tickets can be booked at The Old Courthouse Box Office in person, by telephoning 028 9446 3113 or at www.antrim.gov.uk/oldcourthouse
