The Good Food Guide Asks: Is the Nation’s Favourite Restaurant in Northern Ireland?
AS The Good Food Guide opens nominations for its esteemed Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards, the question on the lips of every food-loving member of the public is – will the nation’s favourite restaurant be found in Northern Ireland?
To be in with a chance of a restaurant from Northern Ireland clinching the coveted title of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year, anyone who loves to eat out in the region should start nominating their favourite restaurants, pubs and cafés from February 4.
The Good Food Guide’s revered awards champion local eateries and recognise great food and service from across the UK, with the criteria that restaurants must be independently run and offer regional or local produce where possible(1).
Ten regional winners will be announced from the public nominations before The Good Food Guide judges crown their overall Readers’ Restaurant of the Year 2014.
Diners in Northern Ireland can nominate their favourite restaurants online at www.thegoodfoodguide.co.uk/awards or by submitting a postcard, available in participating restaurants during the nomination period - February 4 until April 14.
Everyone who submits a nomination will also be entered into a free prize draw for a delicious meal for two at the winning restaurant in their area.
Last year’s awards saw an impressive 44,500 members of the public nominating their favourite restaurants, with Mourne Seafood Bar in Belfast winning the crown of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year for Northern Ireland.
Restaurant co-owner, Andy Rea, said of winning last year’s award: “We are absolutely blown away to win this award. It means so much because it is voted for by The Good Food Guide readers and our restaurant customers - and we have won this award thanks to them.”
Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor, The Good Food Guide, said: “The dining-out public are at the heart of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year awards and we are looking forward to hearing from everyone in Northern Ireland about where they love to eat out.
“So get nominating - let’s celebrate all the great restaurants Northern Ireland has to offer and let them know we appreciate them.”
The 10 regional winners will be announced at the end of May and the overall winner of The Good Food Guide Readers’ Restaurant of the Year award will be announced in late June.
