Did you know that the trend for skinny jeans is on the way out?
So say fashion experts at Ballymena’s Fairhill Shopping Centre, as they prepare to host a free Jeanetics 3D body scanner and body shaping event on March 12 (11am to 5pm) and March 13 (1pm to 5pm).
Skinnies are being replaced by new silhouette, a looser fit of jeans that have a more relaxed fit than the tight, jeggings style of their skinny counterparts.
If you are brave enough to bin the skinnies, here are some of the new looks 2016 will bring:
* Cropped - If you add just one piece of denim to your wardrobe for spring, make it a pair of cropped flare jeans. Look for straight-leg in a medium or dark wash with a cropped hem that shows off your ankles. Team with a blazer or simple sweater, but once the weather warms up, try them with a basic T-shirt. Pair them with boots or chunky pumps and when the weather improves pumps or sandals are ideal options.
* Boyfriend - Boyfriend jeans are tricky, especially when you’re going for an ultra-polished look. But the roomy fit is exactly why we turn to them again and again. With a few key accessories, the right shoe to elongate your legs, and the perfect proportion on top, you’ve got an outfit that’ll deliver on rule-bending style without losing comfort.
* Culottes - When culottes first arrived on the scene, everyone groaned in unison. Now, however, they seem to be catching on in a big way. Get a pair of flowing, wide-legged culottes that end somewhere below the knee and above the ankle for a more interesting look. Team with anything cropped to accentuate and show off the waist. It’s a way to balance the wide bottom.
* Skirts - Spring is all about denim beyond just a pair of jeans. You are totally on trend with a great denim dress or retro button-down denim skirt this season.
