Slideshow: 75 years of Broughshane WI

Broughshane Women’s Institute celebrated their 75th anniversary with a special event in the village last weekend.

‘Crafts, Cakes & Community’ saw local members come together for a very special afternoon at St Patrick’s Church hall.

Brougshane Women’s Institute was founded on September 9, 1940, and last Saturday’s event will hopefully be the first of many celebrating the anniversary.

President of Broughshane WI, Martha Wilson, thanked everyone who came to support and spend time celebrating this milestone with members.

A relaxing Afternoon tea was served all day and enjoyed by so many adding to the atmosphere’s joyful sounds of laughter and friends greeting friends.

The ‘Broughshane Life and Times Project’ members exhibited many of their works and skills for the first time, and thanks goes to all who organised this.

A plethora of crafts from members of Broughshane WI adorned the tables and walls of the hall, and thanks goest to the tutors who explained the intricate details of the craft work displayed including the beautiful Floral Art exhibits and information on forthcoming classes.

A special thank you from the President goes to the Reverend Bond for the use of the hall and to each and every one of the members for their baking skills and incredible organisational abilities.

Broughshane WI would like to thank everyone for coming to celebrate and members look forward to remaining strong in friendship, blending modern and old skills, and being a significant part of community life.

Broughshane WI meets on the second Monday of every month and new members will be made very welcome.
