TWO members of Seven Towers Leisure Centre Karate Club recently took part in black belt examinations.
They were part of four members of Chujo Karate Association who took the examination for various levels of black belt at Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre Ballymoney.
The local duo were Alan Logan Senior Nidan Black Belt (2nd Dan) and Eugene Smith Senior Sandan Black Belt (3rd Dan).
The Chief Examiners were Shihan Phillip Handyside 7th Dan England and Sensei Dan Redmond 6th Dan Northern Ireland.
Chujo Chief Coach Dan Redmond said he was delighted with the success of the four applicants.
He said that they had all prepared well and their hard work had paid off. All four had to take a physical and written test.
Chujo Karate Association has clubs for children and adults in Rasharkin, Coleraine, Ballymoney and Ballymena. Separate classes for children/adults
No special clothes are needed to start training. A pair of loose fitting trousers and a T-shirt will suffice. Karate Gi (suit) can be bought at the club.
Chujo Karate Association is a full member of Northern Ireland Karate Board. NIKB is recognised by Northern Ireland Sports Council as the Governening Body for karate in Northern Ireland.
