Few clouds were visible in the sky as temperatures soared above 24 degrees C prompting people and animals alike to use suncream, a very uncommon sight in recent years for Ballymena Show.

The new look compact layout also boosted this event, which has been failing for a number of years now, filling the organisers with a new confidence.

Show visitors were treated to quite a melody of music from Willie Drennan and his 'Clatter O Fowk' who always attract a crowd with their cultured approach to music and also the Cleartone Scottish Dancers were popular as well.

Over in the livestock rings sheep, goats and cattle paraded around in front of judges who deliberated to find their respective champions. The strong sunshine left many exhibitors with red faces but nevertheless the champions were found.

Glarryford dairy farmer Wallace Gregg was grinning from ear to ear at the end of the show as his Holstein cow was adjudged supreme overall show champion, beating off competition from a Charolais bull belonging to Sean McGovern.

This year's event has been somewhat of a saviour for Ballymena Show which has been facing financial ruin for a few years now due to a great loss in popularity.
