Harrvyille is facing up to another battle, this time to save two primary schools from possible closure.
Proposals to close either Ballee or Harryville Primary Schools or possibly both schools were put before parents and staff last week.
Organised by the North Eastern Education and Library Board, the separate meetings held at each school on Monday night were part of a consultation process in the review of primary school provision in Ballymena.
It is understood that the first proposal is to close Ballee, the second to close Harryville and the third proposal to close both Harryville and Ballee.
Any closures of the schools would be effected in August 2010.
While the Education Board has stressed that no decisions have been made, the threat of closure has prompted an angry and determined response from the schools and local community who have joined together in organising a major poster campaign.
After the closure of the Harryville Post Office last year despite more than 1,000 letters from the community, the Harryville Partnership say they are even more determined and will redouble their efforts to save both schools.
