'Orange' Festival fun in Cullybackey

CULLYBACKEY District L.O.L. No. 20 is inviting everyone to join with them this year to celebrate the 318th Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne as they host a Festival of Orange in the village.
The family fun will kick off on Friday, July 4, with a Mini 12th Parade and Re-enactment including King William III on horseback.

Parade of Bands, Orangemen & Re-enactment groups will commence from Dreen Road at 7.30pm and proceed through the village to Ard Na Maine and then across to Tobar Park and on to field on Dreen Road beside Arthur Cottage where re-enactment battle will take place.

The rest of the events are as follows...

* Monday, July 7: Lambeg drumming demonstration will take place at Cullybackey Orange Hall from 7pm. Various Lambeg drummers will be taking part and anyone interested in learning the art of drumming are also welcome to come along.

* Saturday, July 12:"The Triangle" 12th parade in Cullybackey at 1pm. Parade will assemble at Fenagh Road / Ard Na Maine area and proceed along Station Road, Main Street, Shellinghill Road, Kilmakevit Road & Tobar Park to Demonstration Field at Community Centre.

Free children's activities inc. bouncy castles etc will be in place.

The return route will be Kilmakevit Drive, Shellinghill Road, Main Street, and Station Road for dispersal at Fenagh Road / Ard Na Maine.

All of the above events are free-entry!

Cullybackey Cultural Group have also organised a number of free events for the community on July 5 and 10.

These are...

* Saturday, July 5: Children's fun day at Cullybackey Community Centre & Football Pitch from 12 noon to 6pm. Football Coaching & Tournament will take place with fully trained instructors.Bouncy Castles, Slides, Rodeo Bull and other activities will also be in place.

A free Barbeque will be provided to all children attending the above activities. - All children in attendance must be registered upon arrival to qualify for the activities and barbeque. The organisers have advised that only GOOD BEHAVIOUR will be tolerated and anyone found not to be well behaved will be asked to leave immediately.

* Saturday, July 5. A number of educational talks will talk place in Cullybackey Orange Hall from 2 – 3pm.These talks will be based on President Arthur and the Buick and Cunningham Clan. After the talks are completed a walk has been arranged to "Arthur Cottage" for all in attendance.

* Thursday, July 10: A Musical Evening will take place in Cullybackey High School from 7.30pm. Various local musical groups and singers will be taking part as well Irish dancing. Compere for the evening will be Mr Robert Agnew.
