AT High Kirk on Friday, January 29, people from all round Ballymena packed into the church to hear local musical talent and to donate their hard earned cash to the people of Haiti.
It is no exaggeration to say that this was one of the best acoustic concerts held in the area for a long time. People of all ages flocked into the church to help this worthy cause.
Over £5000 was collected during the evening, stunning many of the
organisers who had not planned for such generosity!
Richard Patton, who first conceived the idea, said: “I was expecting half the people, and about a third of the money. I’m truly blown away by what God has done, and what these people have given.”
The money raised has been sent to two charities. “Lemonaid” (www.lemonaid.org.uk) who are associated with the Christian music festival Frenzy Fest in Scotland and “Compassion” (www.compassionuk.org) which the headline artist Brian Houston is affiliated with.
Through a live video link interview with Justin Dowds (founder of Lemonaid) in Scotland the audience were able to see and hear how and where the money was going to. Justin was ready to head back out to Haiti with supplies to help rebuild and restock the hospital which they fund.
The organisers want to thank all the artists who took part as well as those who operated “behind the scenes” with PA/Lighting/Graphics/Video/Catering etc and gave freely of their time. They would especially like to give thanks to all who came and gave generously and really made it such a special evening. God is good!
