BALLYMENA Floral Art Group met at Leighinmohr House Hotel for the first time in 2010, which is a special year as the Group was formed 35 years ago.
The Group look forward to celebrating this occasion with members, former members and friends and have arranged for well known flower arranger Reu McMillan- who was at the foundation of the group-to demonstrate at their dinner on April 14.

Anyone w
ishing to join us on this occasion can get details and tickets from Mrs A. Sambrook (tel: 028 2564 2036).

Mrs Muriel Whitten welcomed everyone to the meeting and presented a cheque to Mrs Patricia Letters who received it on behalf of S.A.M.

After thanking the club Mrs Letters, spoke for a few minutes on the work of the charity.

After the draw took place for the Fireside Quiz, Muriel welcomed Mrs Margaret Barr, one of the founder members, to do a demonstration. Margaret ably assisted by Mavis Speers produced a delightful arrangement in coral colours.

Mavis Speers entertained the meeting with a rendering of very amusing poems.

It was Isabel Pettigrew’s turn when members took part in a quiz she had organised.

Margaret Bamford, another club member, demonstrated another delightful arrangement of greens and whites, giving lots of tips.

While the group enjoyed some refreshments, Isobel had another quiz to be completed.

Margaret Johnson gave vote of thanks to all members who had helped in any way to make the evening a success.

Results for the monthly competition were as follows: Novice :1st- Audrey Steede; Intermediate: 1st- Ann Sambrook; Open: 1st- Mary Knox, 2nd- Marrie Grear. This was followed by the ballot.

Extra arrangements had been donated by Isobel Pettigrew, Mary Knox and Mavis Speers. The club gave a big thanks to the three ladies and also to Isobel for arranging the evening.
