Award-winning DoubleBand Films – a Belfast -based independent TV production company is making a three part series for BBC NI, charting the colourful history of dancehalls in Northern Ireland in the 40s, 50s and 60s.

A spokesperson for DoubleBand Films, appealed for former Flamingo love-birds to share their stories: "We want to hear from people with interesting tales and special personal memories of the dance halls, especially love stories.

"Across generations, the dance halls of Northern Ireland were the setting for learning the latest dance moves, hearing the popular bands of the day play and meeting future wives and husbands.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who danced and romanced at all dance halls: across Northern Ireland and especially Flamingo, Ballymena and Arcadia, Portrush.

If you have any photographs, film footage or memorabilia from the halls we'd be keen to take a look.
