Ballymena Foodbank feeds 1,000 local people in a year

Over 1,000 local people struggling to feed themselves and their families have been provided with three days of emergency food supplies by Ballymena Foodbank in a 12 month period, it has emerged.

A report to the January meeting of Mid & East Antrim Council in Ballymena on Monday night also revealed that during the same period the Foodbank distributed more than 12,000kg of food to those identified in need and that the people of Ballymena generously donated more than 14,000kg of food.

Councillors gave their approval for the local authority to engage and work alongside Connect Ministeries, who manage and oversee the Foodbank, and to set up collection points in the Town Hall and Museum & Arts Centre at The Braid complex on Bridge Street and the Seven Towers Leisure Centre at Trostan Avenue.
