£22,000 order against benefit fraud woman

A Confiscation Order to the value of £22,411 has been obtained against an Antrim woman by the Department for Communities Financial Investigation Unit.

The order was made against Anne Marie McIlveen(40) of Shetland Street, Antrim at Antrim Crown Court.

McIlveen claimed Income Support, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Housing Benefit on the grounds that she was a single parent. During her claim to benefits, she failed to declare that her partner was living with her and as a result of this she received £86,341 in benefits that she was not entitled to over an eight year period.

On March 10 2016, the defendant pleaded guilty to five charges of dishonesty.

At the confiscation hearing, the Court granted a Confiscation Order in the amount of £22,411 with a default sentence of nine months in custody for non-payment. She has until 28 December 2016 to satisfy the order.
