The manager of Asda Antrim has been handpicked to represent Asda NI at Walmart’s annual shareholder’s conference in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Robert Ryans is one of just a handful of Asda store colleagues selected to attend the conference, both in recognition of him going “above and beyond the call of duty” in his role of managing the store, as well as having been nominated by Asda senior management for his role in running the Asda Retail Academy.
During the trip, Robert will have the opportunity to meet 20,000 fellow colleagues from all around the globe.
“Having worked for Asda for 34 years, I’ve always wanted to be a part of the experience and the news of my nomination came as a huge surprise,” he said.
He added: “I’ve never been to America outside of New York so I’m excited on both a professional and personal level.”
George Rankin, Senior Director of Asda NI, said: “Robert is a fantastic example to us all of how every Asda colleague should behave, and this brilliant opportunity is a well-deserved reward, as reflected in his nomination by senior management colleagues to represent his department, in recognition of his dedication to his job and his ambition to consistently drive Asda forward as a leader in the market.
“Everyone in store is really proud that Robert was selected out of 170,000 colleagues to attend this year.”
