Speaking at Ballee Community Centre, Cllr Billy Ashe, explained: “This employability programme is very relevant in addressing work and training-related matters with today’s focus on running a ‘Taster day’ to let people know what is on offer in terms of employment and training opportunities.

“It targets any adult who is unemployed and who is keen to gain relevant accredited training in seeking employment and is especially relevant as Ballee falls into one of the local Neighbourhood Renewal Areas and is therefore a primary focus,” he said

Jobmatch is delivered by a local company, Network Personnel, which is part of the Workspace Group and is part funded by the European Social Fund and the Department for Employment and Learning.

It is free for anyone over 18 years-of-age and who is currently unemployed or economically inactive but keen to gain relevant accredited training and employment or who is considering self-employment.

Ballymena, Larne and Carrickfergus residents are among those who can apply if they meet the criteria.

Michelle McMullan, Network Personnel, added: “Jobmatch is a great initiative for our local area, especially at a time when there is an ever increasing competition for jobs.”
