Dunclug College is delighted to report that two-thirds of its pupils achieved between five and 10 GCSEs grades in the A* - C range this year.
Seventy-four per cent of total grades were in the A-C range and an outstanding 71% achieved between grades A and C in English and 55% in Mathematics.
Almost 50% of all pupils achieved at least five top grades including English and Maths, a small increase on the previous year.
Ninety-five per cent of pupils gained five or more grades in the A – E range with all pupils achieving at least five GCSE passes.
The top achievers were: Nicole Norris with seven A grades and a B grade, David O’Neill with six A and two B grades, Amy Chan with one A*, four A and 3 B grades, Christina Shields with two A*s, two A grades, three B grades and two C grades, Kathryn Francey with four A grades and four B grades, Kirsty Fraser with one A* three A, three B and a C grade, Jarra Bigger and Ellen McMullan with four A, three B and one C grade and Ellie Letch with two A*, one A, 6 B grades and a C grade,
Students who also achieved a profile of high grades were Scott Gilmore, Paula Hayes, Naomi Law, Louise Saunderson, Nicole Backus, Rebecca Connor, Samantha Dennison, Emma Fleck, Karla Kernohan, Lois Manson, Lauren Minnis, Andrea Neeson, Peter Wilson, Jade Scott, Ruth McNeilly and Andrea McMaster.
Subject areas highly commended for achieving 100% success at Grades A-C were: Art, English Literature, Hospitality, ICT & RE, as well as Construction (93%), Double Award Science (91%), History (90%), Media Studies
(80%), Applied Business 78%, Business and Communication Systems 77%, French (72%), English, Performing Arts and Single Award Science – each 71%, Physical Education 68%, followed closely by: Child Development, Home Economics,
Resistant Materials and Mathematics.
Principal, Mrs Wilson, thanked pupils, teaching staff and parents for their whole-hearted commitment and congratulated them on the excellent standard achieved – in many cases well beyond expectation or hope. She added that the majority of pupils are planning to return school in September to begin the next stage of their educational journey.
