Mayor congratulates '˜Best Kept' Broughshane
Cllr Wales met representatives from the award-winning community this week at a special reception in the Mayor’s Parlour at The Braid.
“On a personal note as I come from Broughshane, I know just how much all ages from within that particular community contribute to achieving such recognition,” said Cllr Wales.

“In taking first the ‘Best Kept Small Town’ category once again and then being announced as winning the overall all-Ireland title, this was recognition that it is the cleanest, tidiest and best kept town on the island,” she said.
As part of the Tidy Towns initiative, these awards recognise towns and villages across Ireland which consistently take pride in their surroundings.
Betty Millar, Chairperson of the Broughshane Improvement Committee commented that this accolade represented a decade of work for the town’s residents.
“During that time, Broughshane took the ‘Best Kept Small Town’ award twice, so getting recognition as the overall ‘Best Kept Town in Ireland’ means it was all worthwhile,” she said.
