South Antrim MP William McCrea has today met with Mivan Chief Executive, Dr Ivan McCabrey, following the announcement that the company is to go into administration.
The Antrim-based company employs almost 300 people and specialises in fitting out cruise ships and high-end commercial and residential developments.
It was announced earlier today (Friday) that the company had gone into administration.
“Obviously I share the disappointment of all concerned following today’s announcement and my thoughts are with the directors and the workforce at this difficult time,” Mr McCrea said.
The DUP MP added: “As we enter into a new year this is not the type of news that one would wish to hear for the Antrim area and I welcome the efforts that continue to be made by the company on behalf of their employees.
“It is essential that as much information, guidance and support is delivered to the workforce to help them through the days and weeks ahead, and it is a sad reality of the current, harsh economic climate that a company of such world renown as Mivan has been forced into this difficult situation.”
