Local business John Mulholland Motors has raised a staggering £36,000 for the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice over the past two years.
Miss Northern Ireland, Megan Green, Ambassador for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice visited the Randalstown dealership this week to pick up a cheque for £17,000.
Local businessman John Mulholland launched a charity initiative in 2012 whereby he committed to donating £10 for every new car sold and to date has made a contribution of £36,000 to NI Children’s Hospice.
“As Managing Director of John Mulholland Motor Group it has been our company’s privilege to support NICH,” Mr Mulholland said.
He added: “We wanted to partnership with a local charity that makes a huge contribution within our community on a daily basis and we could think of no better local cause to support than the children and families that receive an unparalleled level of care at the Children’s Hospice.
“I would urge every local business and employer to embrace such opportunities and try and make a contribution irrespective of how big or small as it all makes a difference.”
Customers driving away in a brand new car from the showrooms in Randalstown and Campsie had the added pleasure of knowing their purchase promoted a £10 donation to NI Children’s Hospice helping to provide care for local children with a life-limited illness.
Ellen Hillen, Corporate Fundraising Manager for NI Children’s Hospice, said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by John Mulholland Motors and for the enthusiasm of John, his family and all the staff at Randalstown and Campsie for supporting the campaign.
“As well as the £10 donation per car the team held fundraising events in the showroom at Randalstown.
“Cause-related marketing initiatives are a valuable tool for businesses to deliver a successful charity partnership and in this case Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice benefited greatly from this unique scheme.”
Every year Children’s Hospice cares for 250 children and young people with a life-limited illness and supports their families.
No words can express the difference this means to the families that receive Hospice care. NI Children’s Hospice depends on the generosity of the general public and the business community to help generate 2.5m every year so that care can be provided free of charge to these special children.
Thanks to John Mulholland Motors and their customers many more children and their families will receive Hospice care in the coming months.
