Police seize cocaine and 623 packets of fireworks in Ballymena searches

Police have uncovered cocaine, cannabis and 623 packets of fireworks in separate searches in the Ballymena area in the past 24 hours.

In the first incident, police seized 200 grams of suspected cocaine and 1/4 kilo of cannabis resin from two properties in the Ballee area.

Following the seizure two males were arrested, charged to appear in court and remanded in custody.

Today (Wednesday October 26), officers conducted a search in the Carniny area of Ballymena and seized approximately 623 packets of fireworks.

Posting on the PSNI Ballymena Facebook page, an officer stated: “Some of your may think this is us trying to ruin a little Halloween fun however misuse of fireworks account for a number of serious injuries and the illegal sale of fireworks only helps to fund organised criminality.

“Please visit the NI Direct website for further information on how to obtain a fireworks licence including locations where you can legitimately purchase fireworks.”
