Antrim Town and Sinn Fein Councillor Noel Maguire has welcomed the courage of Terri-Louise Graham in telling her story of domestic abuse and hopes it will help encourage other women trapped in the cycle of abuse to see that they can reclaim their lives.
Cllr. Maguire said: “Women, and indeed people everywhere, will be applauding the young woman Terri-Louise Graham who came forward recently to expose the scourge of domestic violence. Terri-Louise is a hero, not just for her courage in confronting her own nightmare, but also for giving hope to countless other women who are right now facing similar trauma in violent relationships.
“Women’s Aid states that 1 in 4 women suffer domestic violence. This is startling in itself. However, to think that there are 60 incidents of domestic violence in the North each day is truly frightening.
“Thanks to the bravery of women like Terry-Louise Graham, and the support of organisations like Women’s Aid, many more women will hopefully find the courage to break free from the cycle of domestic violence and see their abusers punished.”
