Hard work paid off for St. Louis Year 10 pupils as they were announced the winners of the Invest NI Step N’ Zones Competition of 2014.

As part of the year 10 Learning for Life and Work curriculum Mrs McAllister entered some of the year 10’s in the competition organised by Invest NI.

The regional competitions took place all over NI in November and the pupils were asked to come up with an enterprising idea and create a business plan for it.

Charlie Henry and James Logan took their entry very seriously and put numerous hours work into creating a realistic business plan complete with logo and slogan for their idea- football boots with deployable studs. James, Charlie and Mrs McAllister were delighted to find out that their entry won the regional competition and as a result Invest NI invited James and Charlie to present their idea at the finals in the Invest NI Head Quarters to compete for the chance to win £1000 for the school and £150 worth of High Street Vouchers each. Again, taking the competition very seriously, Charlie and James gave up their lunch times to create a presentation that would wow the judges- something that would set them apart from the crowd. The boys asked Monaghan footballer Colin Walshe and Antrim captain Niall McKeever to endorse their product and they were only to happy to film videos for the boys.

All the hard work paid off as St. Louis were announced the winners of the Invest NI Step N’ Zones Competition of 2014 which 1300 pupils entered. Mrs McAllister and the rest of the staff and pupils of St. Louis are immensely proud of the efforts of James and Charlie.

Charlie, James and Mrs McAllister would like to officially thank Colin Walshe, Niall McKeever and Cailean O’Boyle for taking time out of their busy schedules to record videos for the presentation.
