New Greggs store is on the way to Ballymena

It is understood that pies and pastry company Greggs is set to open another store in Northern Ireland.

The bakery giant is advertising for staff for its latest shop, which is expected to be based in Ballymena’s Fairhill Shopping Centre.

Greggs opened a fourth new city shop at Castle Lane in Belfast earlier this month and the firm is planning to roll out about 50 across the region within the next two years.

The proposed Ballymena outlet will be the Co Antrim town’s second Greggs after the first opened at Applegreen on the Crankill Road.

Staff are already being sought for the new store.

A job description reads: “To be a team member at Greggs, you’ll need to be a warm and friendly person who always puts the customers’ needs at the heart of everything you do.

“You’ll be working in a fast-paced and fun environment as part of a supportive team. Depending on your shift, your tasks will vary and may include: food preparation, stock replenishment, serving customers on the till and promoting special offers.

“You’ll also make sure the shop is clean, tidy and attractive to visit.”

Northern Ireland’s first Greggs store opened at the Applegreen service station on the M2 in April of last year.

This was followed by a further two franchised shop openings in partnership with Applegreen on the A26 outside Ballymena and on the M1, near Lisburn.
