Transport Minister Danny Kennedy has announced that a £230,000 road improvement scheme for Main Street in Cullybackey is scheduled to begin on Monday 23 June.
The resurfacing, drainage and footway scheme along Main Street from Dreen Road to Station Road is expected to be finished on Thursday 21 August.
Mr. Kennedy said: “This scheme will bring benefits to local residents and visitors to Cullybackey.
“These further improvements for the town follow on from the works completed last year which removed all overhead Utility Services.”
The Department has worked closely with Cullybackey Development Association and local elected representatives to programme the works. Operations and traffic management arrangements have been planned to minimise inconvenience.
However, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the area.
To help ensure the safety of road users and contractors it will be necessary to put in place traffic control during footpath reconstruction.
Three night-time road closures for the final stage of road surfacing will also be necessary.Traffic information will be displayed
in advance of and during the works and all diversionary routes sign posted. Local access will be maintained.
In the unlikely event of a change to the scheduled dates the Department will publicise changes. Information about all road improvement schemes can be found at website http:// www.TrafficwatchNI.com.
