Screwfix, the UK’s leading multi-channel supplier of trade tools, hardware, DIY supplies, plumbing and electrical equipment, is celebrating the creation of 12 local jobs after opening its first store in Ballymena on Pennybridge Business Park.

Three additional stores have also launched in Northern Ireland this month in Bangor, Newtownabbey and Belfast bringing the retailer’s network up to more than 335 stores across the UK.

A special celebration weekend is taking place to mark the opening, where customers can benefit from a 10% discount off all products and be in the chance to win a flat screen TV by taking part in the drilling competition.

Screwfix has an established reputation as the UK’s largest direct and online supplier of trade tools, and is known as ‘where the trade buys’.

The new store in Ballymena will bring the brand’s expertise and functional product range to local tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts, stocking thousands of tools, accessories and hardware products under one roof.

Screwfix store manager, Claire Boersma, comments: “We are excited to be launching our first store in Ballymena; creating 12 jobs locally and giving tradesmen and DIYers better access to all the essential tools and equipment they need so they are fully prepared for any job. At Screwfix we pride ourselves on the speed, reliability and convenience of our service and are looking forward to welcoming our new customers from Ballymena.”

As well as the new store, Screwfix’s website Screwfix.com, which receives over 1.3 million visitors per week, hosts thousands of products available to order and gives customers the ability to check stock at their local stores. Using the Screwfix Click & Collect service, customers can conveniently purchase supplies online and then collect from store just five minutes later. What’s more, for people on the move, Screwfix has developed fantastic mobile and tablet apps. These can be downloaded and are ideal for checking stock, making orders, browsing the Screwfix catalogue and helping to plan equipment needed for a job.

In addition to Screwfix, qualified plumbers and electricians can also take advantage of the exclusive Plumbfix and Electricfix offerings. These dedicated trade counters, located next door to the Screwfix store in Ballymena, enable plumbers and electricians who can prove their professional trade status within the industry, to access select products and offers.
