Man who blocked entrance had no driving licence

A Ballymena came to police attention when he went to get a haircut but parked a car in front of a private entrance at the town's Broughshane Street.

It was discovered he was on the road without insurance. He also had no driving licence and had taken his partner’s vehicle without authority.

Kieran Butler (33), whose address was given as Grange Avenue, committed the offences last August.

A defence lawyer said her client is a self-employed roofer who employs five people and works around Europe including London.

District Judge Peter King noted the defendant had 30 previous convictions and banned him from driving for a year and fined him a total of £400.
