Thieves broken into cars in Portglenone while their owners were attending mass at the weekend.

Police are investigating three reports of cars having been broken into and various items stolen on the evening of Saturday 22 November.

Chief Inspector Stephen McCauley said: “The cars were parked on the Ballymena Road, Portglenone while people were attending mass.

“Various items were taken from inside the cars, including a handbag containing a small sum of cash.

“Police are investigating reports that people in a small black car, possibly a Peugeot 101 or Citroen Saxo were acting suspiciously in the area at the time.

“If you have any information that may assist the investigation, please contact local police on the non-emergency number 101.

“I would also ask people to take valuables, such as handbags or phones, out of parked cars. Or indeed, keep them locked in the boot or out or sight.”
