A full decision on whether or not to carry out improvement work on Cullybackey Community Centre is scheduled to be taken by a committee of Ballymena Borough Council on Thursday night.

Councillors were told last week that it would be down to the October 2 Spatial Planning meeting to pick one of three options - ‘do nothing’, ‘build a new centre at a cost of £1.9m’, or ‘refurbish the existing facility at a cost of £249,000’.

It was pointed out that to take no action would reduce income from the facility and increase maintenance costs, that a new build had not been budgeted for and would not give best value for money and that refurbishment would bring the existing centre up to a reasonable and acceptable standard.
