At the October meeting of Cullybackey WI, President Eileen Wylie welcomed Tracy McIlwaine,from the International Sub-Committee.
Eileen announced the names and roles of the new Committee and Ruth Orr was presented with the crystal bowl for Vice President.
Rosemary Kennedy read the correspondence after which Tracy gave a very interesting talk on ACWW (Associated Country Women of the World) which connects and supports women and communities worldwide.
She gave a short history of ACWW and informed us of projects currently being supported.These projects help women and therefore their families in countries as diverse as India,The Dominican Republic,
Tonga and Uganda.
ACWW is an international non-governmental organisation which works closely and has a consultative status with the United Nations.
The girls with October birthdays were given birthday gifts. Eleanor McIlroy won the monthly competition, a foreign recipe, and following a tasty supper the evening ended with A Countrywoman’s Song.
