A Council committee have approved a recommendation that disabled access at The Showgrounds be reviewed as the premises develop.
They did so last week after being given an update on disabled access to the Main Arena on match days and on the controlled access at the Showgrounds’ reception following the recent introduction of an additional turnstile sited on the ecos side of the Main Stand.
Acting Director of Leisure & Cultural Services, Bernie Candlish said admittance arrangements to grounds for disabled spectators “remains unchanged” as a result.
She pointed out that disabled visitors/drivers park in designated areas adjacent to the reception entrance.
They enter the Showgrounds stand at the reception end of the main building, make payment to a member of Ballymena United staff and take a lift to stand.
Mrs Candlish added: “We would not expect them (disabled spectators) to travel the length of the building to access the turnstile.”
