Local MLA Paul Frew has thanked Transport NI for their work to-date to improve travelling conditions for motorists using Ballymena’s Craigadoo Road.

Mr Frew told The Times he had urged Transport NI to take action after complaints from residents about the state of the road including an uneven road surface, blocked gullies and poor roadside ditch drainage.

He said: “I have spoken personally to many of them and heard first hand accounts about what it is like to use this road everyday day in day out, however, they are being left to deal with this problem for a long period of time because there are weightier flooding risks in more populated areas.”

The DUP Assemblyman said that while Transport NI had pointed out that the Craigadoo Road was unable to compete with higher priority routes they had reassured him that an open drain had recently been cleaned and a new pipe installed to repair a blocked culvert on the road.
