A year-long battle for a grit box for Brook Street in Ahoghill has ended in success for DUP MLA Paul Frew.
He first wrote to Transport NI asking them to consider placing a salt bin in December of 2013. Mr Frew explained: “The location did not meet current criteria outlined for salt boxes but I urged the Minister to reconsider since these houses have been designed for families with special needs family members.
“He promised me he would look again at the situation when the formal adoption of streets had taken place.”
Mr Frew said he had lobbied for a swift completion of this process allowing the salt box to be put in place for use at this location to assist the residents during the winter period.
“I would like to thank Transport NI , the DRD Minister for stepping in and most of all the residents of Brook St Ahoghill who have been very patient throughout,” he added.
