Reckon you could play the role of a handsome prince? Then Alternative Medicine Theatre want to hear from you!

The local drama group are back with their production of Sleeping Beauty by Stephen Duckham for their 30th Year Anniversary.

Made up entirely of volunteers with a passion for the Arts, Alternative Medicine was established in 1985 by a group of health care workers who loved drama and wanted to raise money for health related charities by putting on a Christmas Pantomime and giving all the ticket proceeds to their chosen charity each year.

Over the years the group has grown and progressed now consisting of people from all ages and backgrounds. It has become a cross-community theatre group but with the same aim at heart, to donate money to worthy charities.

The chosen charity this year is NIAMH – Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health, with a smaller donation going to The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. The pantomime last year raised over £5000 which was donated to Action Duchenne and it is hoped that the same amount if not more will be raised for the charities this year.

To celebrate their 30th year of performing pantomimes for the people of Ballymena, the group are holding open auditions for the role of Prince Michael on Tuesday July 28.

Anyone interested in auditioning for the role should send an email to sarahirvine6@gmail.com for more information. Sleeping Beauty will open in the Braid Arts Centre on Thursday 26th November – Saturday 28th November. The shows will begin at 7.30pm each night with a matinee on Saturday 28th at 1.30pm. Tickets will be available from the box office at the Braid Arts Centre.
