The Browne Memorial Hall at Lylehill Presbyterian Church was a very fashionable place to be recently, attracting ladies from a wide area.

A packed audience of 150 filled the hall near Templepatrick on April 17 for a spectacular Fashion Show and Beauty Evening featuring the latest fashions available at Camerons of Ballymena and New Look, Antrim, which were superbly modelled by local ladies and girls from Lylehill GB.

Cameron’s hit the catwalk with clothes from the Jacques Vert, Precis Petite, Kaliko, Dash, Planet and Windsmoor collection with shoes from the Carl Scarpa series and outfits ranging from casual to Mother-of-the Bride.

Clothes and shoes from New Look were from the 9-15 and women’s ranges and featured jumpsuits and sandals, shorts and dungarees to kimonos, blouses and jumpers.

The models’ outfits were complemented with a selection of the latest handbags, jewellery, shoes and scarves from both stores.

Those who attended also enjoyed a beauty demonstration by Aphrodite Beauty Salon, Templepatrick, and Alison Thompson from “The Beautician”, Ballyclare, and her model, Kim, provided a make-up demonstration during the half time interval.

Compères for the evening were Jennifer Johnston, who detailed the outfits from Cameron’s which were modelled by 10 ladies from the church, while Claire McNeill, Lylehill GB Officer and part-time New Look staff member, commented on the New Look clothes which were modelled by girls aged nine-17 years from 238th Lylehill Girls’ Brigade Company.

The evening got underway with guests being piped in by local piper Grahame Harris, attired in full highland regalia

Ten ladies from the church modelled two outfits each from Cameron’s Department Store, Ballymena, with 10 girls aged between nine to 17 years of age from 238th Lylehill Girls’ Brigade Company modelling clothes from the New Look, Antrim store.

Speaking afterwards spokesperson for Lylehill, thanked everyone who helped make the evening a success.

She said: “Our sincere thanks go to Sharon Coleman of Cameron’s and her staff, Nuala and Patricia from New Look and Alison and Kim from The Beauticians, as well as Jennifer and Claire for compèring. A very special ‘thank you’ as well to all of our models. They conquered nerves and butterflies to put on a great show and hopefully enjoyed themselves as well!”

The evening ended with supper and the chance for those who attended to view the accessories on display.
