Mid & East Antrim councillors have appealed to citizens in the borough to have their say on current plans to reduce opening hours at libraries in the borough including Ballymena Central at Pat’s Brae in the town.

Libraries NI have written to Council to inform members that a consultation has begun on a proposed reduction in opening hours of Ballymena Central and Carrickfergus library from 50 hours to 45 hours per week.

The June Council meeting was told that a response to the consultation would be brought to their July meeting for consideration “to ensure a robust consultation response is submitted by Council” before the July 17 deadline.
