Groups in Ballymena and the wider borough are being urged by the Mayor to get their applications in for the Live Here Love Here Grants Scheme.

Mayor Billy Ashe says: “This is a great opportunity for local people to help improve their local environment right across Mid and East Antrim. The scheme closes at the end of the month and I encourage everyone to get their applications submitted.”

For the second year, Environmental charity Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful will be working alongside the Department of the Environment, Tourism Northern Ireland and local Councils to launch the Live Here Love Here Small Grants Scheme.

Designed to tackle issues such as poor environmental quality, littering and dilapidation, this grants scheme encourages volunteers from schools, communities and other groups to take practical action to improve their local environment and inspire a growth in civic pride

Groups interested can visit www.liveherelovehere.org for further information. Those applying will be required to detail how a project could improve their local environment or community through practical action. The deadline is Monday, September 28, at 12noon.
