Around 800 members from Ballymena and District and their accompanying bands will take part in the Royal Black Institution’s ‘Last Saturday’ parade in Ballyclare on Saturday.

Ulster Unionist Robin Swann, a Past Master in the Royal Black Institution, and a current North Antrim assemblyman, said the Black was traditionally viewed as the senior of the Loyal Orders.

“Like the Twelfth demonstrations throughout the constituency, I would encourage the community to ‘Back The Black’ by attending what promises to be another terrific family day out in Ballyclare for the annual Last Saturday demonstration,” he said.

Some 3,000 members of the Royal Black Institution from 79 preceptories are expected to take part.

More than 70 bands will join the parade which will begin at 12.30pm and go via Rashee Road, Rashee Park, Erskine Park, Ballyeaston Road, North End, The Square, Main Street and Mill Road to Sixmilewater Park where a religious service will be held at 3pm.

The service of worship will be conducted by Rev. Ian McClean.

The principal speaker will be the Sovereign Grand Master, Millar Farr.

The districts represented will be Lisburn, Ballymena, Antrim, Larne, Ballymoney and Ballyclare.
