Local Sinn Fein Councillor Noel Maguire has voiced his concern after prescription drugs were found dumped in Rathenraw on Monday night.
After their collection by police, Cllr. Maguire said: “I welcome the safe retrieval and disposal of a quantity of prescription drugs found abandoned in Rathenraw. Perhaps on this occasion there was nothing sinister about the find, but it was essential that these items were removed without delay. I would appeal to whoever was responsible, and to the general public, that they ensure that any prescribed drugs no longer needed are disposed of safely. In such circumstances they should be returned to your local pharmacy.
“The fact that such potentially dangerous drugs were abandoned where they could be easily found presented a callous disregard for the safety of our local kids.
“I also want to express my appreciation to the local resident whose alertness helped in the recovery of these drugs, and to the police for their quick response.”
