Students at Cullybackey College are celebrating some outstanding GCSE results, going against the national trend which has shown signs that achieving the top grades is becoming increasingly difficult and gaining the best results the College has achieved in four years.

College principal Mr. D. Donaldson, the College Principal, said: “The proportion of students to achieve five or more GCSE passes at grades A* to C has risen to 59%. This is the highest pass rate in five years and meant that 76 students achieved this important milestone. This is a significant improvement of 16% on last year’s results.”

Vice Principal T. Manson, paid particular tribute to the hard work and partnership that was created between teachers and students. He noted that many teachers had gone the extra mile with students to encourage them to achieve their very best and had provided extra revision classes in the evenings as well as special exam breakfasts.

He said: “Our teachers today can be very satisfied that their hard work over the last two years has paid off and it is great to see them enjoying these results and celebrating the successes as much as the students.”

Mr Donaldson added: “At Cullybackey College we offer a very wide, modern curriculum for our students at GCSE level and it is fantastic to see so many students achieving results at the highest levels.”

Among the top students at the College were - Jacqui McKee, Catherine Reid, Danica Donnelly, Michael Kerr, Sam Whatmough, Jordan Park, Georgina Thomson, Rebecca Arbuthnot, Karla Gilliand, Josephine Paul, Joel Harris, Scott Harris, Sarah O’Neill and Laura Park.
